THE 2023 SUMMIT ON THE RESEARCH AND TEACHING OF YOUNG ADULT LITERATURE
IN CONVERSATION: THE PROMISE OF YOUNG ADULT LITERATURE
Friday, April 21 / 8:30 AM-5:30 PM CST / ONLINE
This full day, virtual conference focuses on conversations among teachers, librarians, scholars, and authors in the areas of the research and teaching of young adult literature. Attend five sessions from among over 20 options to inform grades 6-16 classroom reading practices and teacher education. Be part of conversations focused on trends in research and pedagogy in the field.
This year's Summit strives to be an inclusive space for
Classroom Teachers: Share knowledge and experiences around how students are benefitting from YAL in the classroom; demonstrate effective instructional strategies to teach YAL meaningfully.
Researchers (including graduate and undergraduate students): Share and discuss book publications, projects underway, and journal publications that can prompt new studies and inform classroom practices.
Teacher Educators/Professors of Young Adult Literature: Share innovative projects from YAL courses; engage in conversations with others studying and teaching YAL.
Authors: Share reading, writing, and research practices that inform your work; engage in conversation with scholars and educators studying and teaching your work.
Librarians : Share approaches to building inclusive reading spaces and advocate for ways to support classroom teachers and students.
Future Teachers: Share experiences thinking, writing, and creating youth-centered curriculum in collaboration with administrators and literacy coaches.

Call for Proposals: The call for proposals was open during February and has now closed. The advisory review board will conduct a masked review of all proposals on March 3, 2023.
